Frequently Asked Questions
Pilates is a popular workout for getting toned and achieving personal growth – both mentally and physically. It utilizes resistance training, controlled exercises and concentrated breathing & movement to link the body and mind. Joseph Pilates was the original creator who developed 500 specific exercises to grow the body-mind connection that now make up pilates.
In Pilates, equipment is utilized to maximize the workout, such as through resistance bands, springs, mats and, of course, the reformer. It may look intimidating at first but, don’t worry, within a few classes students are rocking the equipment like a model does a runway.
Scheduling a pilates class is made easy with the easy Mind Body Online website. Once an account is created, simply select the class or workshop you’d like to take and reserve it with a click!
Pilates is best practiced in clothing that is secure and comfortable. Form-fitting pieces such as leggings and tank tops are ideal. We recommend avoiding clothing that is loose or accessorized because it can get tangled up or snag on equipment! Oh, and grip socks are required. Which takes us to the next question…
Grip socks are important for health and safety. By keeping everyone’s feet tucked into socks, it helps with the sanitation of the equipment. In addition, the grips on the socks allow for a much more firm hold on the equipment – keeping you solid instead of slipping & sliding!
Perhaps you go to sign up for a class and – alas – see it is already booked. If you’d like to get in line, in case someone drops out, here’s what to do next:
- Reserve a spot on the waitlist.
- Then, if you’re given a spot that becomes available, you will receive a text or email letting you know you’ve been added to the class.
- However, it is also important to check the status on your own – in case the text or email got lost amid other messages! Because once you’re given that class (up to 12 hours before), your account will be charged either way.
